Joe Hollier

Joe is based in Hamilton and is STANZ’s Chairman. Joe works for Living Turf as a Territory Manager in the Waikato, Bay of Plenty area. Joe’s passion for the turf industry stems from his time working at some of New Zealand’s premier venues, having worked at Eden Park, Waikato stadium and North Harbour Stadium. Joe has developed his skills during prestigious events like Rugby World Cup and FIFA’s U20 World Cup. He has completed his Level 4 Sports Turf Management. Joe brings over 15 years of experience in turf to the committee.

Vice Chairman

Shaun Davies

Shaun is based in Waikato and is STANZ’s Vice Chairman. Shaun works at FMG Waikato Stadium as Assistant Turf Manger. Shaun has worked for a range of businesses across the industry. Including contractors, local government, schools and the private sector. Shaun enjoys preparing surfaces to the highest level, he has completed the Level 4 sports turf Management. The highlight of his career so far would have to be while working at Eden Park being involved with the 2015 Cricket World Cup. Shaun brings over 10 years of experience in turf to the committee.

Adam Hansen

Adam is based in Auckland and one of STANZ’s Auckland based committee members. Adam works at Eden Park as Assistant Turf Manager. Part of his role is to assist Auckland Cricket in helping council, contractors and schools improve all cricket surface standards across the region. Adam enjoys the pressure this career brings and while helping deliver world class sports surfaces, he has completed the Level 6 Diploma in Turf Management. Adam brings over 20 years of experience in turf to the committee.

Alex Glasgow

Alex is based in Auckland and one of STANZ’s Auckland based committee members. Alex is employed by the NZ Sports Turf Institute as an agronomist. His specialist areas include sportsfield design; construction and maintenance; environmental and sustainability issues relating to sports turf; golf course construction and maintenance; golf course design and horse racing tracks.Alex is the National Technical Director for the NZ Sports Turf Institute. As such he is responsible for the overall development and management of the agronomic services provided by NZSTI. Alex brings over 30 years of experience in turf to the committee.

Darren Hannay

Darren is based in Auckland and one of STANZ’s Auckland based committee members. Darren is a qualified golf course superintendent with experience in his native Scotland and here in New Zealand at Whangaparaoa Golf Club. In 2004 he joined Waitakere City Council as a Contracts Manager with prime responsibility for sports and landscape parks and open spaces. He has an excellent understanding and a good working knowledge of irrigation and equipment matters. Darren Joined Parkland Products in 2006 and has been working as their Commercial Manager since 2014. Darren brings over 30 years of experience in turf to the committee.

Shane Maddren

Shane is based in Wellington and STANZ’s Lower North Island committee member. Shane works as Contracts Manager for Mexteds Sports Turf who specialise in Sports Turf design, construction, irrigation, renovation & maintenance of stadium, school & community fields as well as racetracks locally and nationally. Shane has completed the Level 6 Diploma in Turf Management. His previous roles include working on golf courses, within council and other contractors throughout the North Island. Shane brings over 20 years of experience in turf to the committee.

Adam Sweetman

Adam is based in Caterbury and is one of STANZ’s South Island based committee member. Adam is currently employed at Drummond and Ethridge as Golf and Turf commercial sales for John Deere. He brings experience from golf courses around the lower North Island, Canada and Scotland. Upon his return to New Zealand he worked at FMG Stadium Waikato for 5 years. Adam has completed his Level 4 Sports Turf Management. Adam brings over 15 years of experience in turf to the committee.

Daniel Hooper

Daniel is based in Canterbury and is one of STANZ’s South Island based committee members. Daniel is currently employed at Christchurch City Council as Team Leader of Nga Puna Wai sports hub including irrigation and Sand Carpet Management of sports fields city wide. He also has experience in  Sports Fields, Green Keeping, Cricket and Local Council. Daniel is also on the committee for Canterbury Tasman Turf Managers Association (CTTMA) Daniel brings over 20 years of experience in turf to the committee.

Tom Tamati

Tom is based in Canterbury and is one of STANZ’s South Island based committee members. Tom Studied at Otago Polytechnic in Cromwell then moved to Christchurch to work at QE2 Sports Park. Tom was  2IC at Carisbrook in Dunedin and Turf Manager at University Oval in Dunedin. He moved into Contract Management in Dunedin and now works for Sicon running the Sports Turf, Mowing and spraying teams. Tom operates a Sports Turf and Line marking company that specialises in School Sports, recreation and activity markings, car park line marking and Turf Management. Tom brings over 20 years of experience in turf to the committee.
